it’s been a year!

after 28 years on Maui I moved to Pine Mountain Club, California.

After losing the love of my life.

we were together for 26 years making all our dreams come true.

it has been a great year so far I’ve designed my dream garden in my backyard here on the mountain and overcome many obstacles, growing herbs, vegetables, flowers, and overcoming my challenges with the critters.
i’ve met so many people and made new friends at our Sunday farmers market and participating has been a great Joy giving me a sense of community and place and knowing that I love it here and I’m meant to be here and just like my husband said to me before he died as we were looking out the kitchen window here in Pine Mountain club. He said you’re gonna be just fine and he was right. I am

It’s hard to go on when you lose somebody I never knew how hard and sad it could be but we have to find that Joy on the other side of our heart and it is possible to be in a quiet, peaceful slow life where music is the healingtouch and nature immersion is the best thing for our soul.

creativity is the best thing for me and I’ve immersed myself in everything that I do from cooking gardening, card making, painting on T-shirts but now I’m getting onto the real thing of becoming an artist and I started to paint these golden hills on wood and canvas and I’m ready to just let it flow. so stay tuned for California plein air painting!

I’ve been busy! Since I moved to Pine Mountain club April 25 from Maui, Hawaii I’ve designed a little studio in my garage and it’s working out perfectly for painting on T-shirts I started to teach a few weeks ago because a friend had asked to learn and it got me going to where I’m painting every day. It’s really nice to be immersed in nature. Surrounded by trees and wild critters in the beautiful mountains I go to the swimming pool, walk beautiful trails finally started walking again and I love it. I’ve been gardening and watching everything get eaten by bunnies and ground squirrels and even the quail ate my Dahlia. But lavender they don’t care for and I’m thankful because I’m planting a mini lavender farm in my backyard.
Creativity is what I love and I’m so happy to be enjoying it and I’ll share some of the photos of what I’ve been painting the last two weeks. Soon I’ll be sewing like crazy making beautiful pillows and purses and unique things. I started to knit again because my friend showed me how. I still had to watch a few more videos to get on track and refresh my muscle memory! I’ll be doing my first show in Pine Mt Club, California, Sunday, August 17, 2025. I look forward to meeting lots of people and having fun in this wonderful community that I love.

Let’s Paint

Painting t-shirts in the watercolor style

Let’s mix acrylics in a liquid watery consistency, stuff shirts with pillows to absorb water and prevent paint from soaking through to the back of shirt and start creating dreams come true! I’ll be painting probably 100 shirts this month in preparation for the Lilac Festival in Pine Mt Club, California and also creating gorgeous custom tops and pillow covers with vintage fabrics and piping, silky backs, hand stitching inspired by Alabama Chanin project! I’ve kept a photo of one corset top for years dreaming of making these tops and influencing other women to hand sew and create works of wearable art. The feeling I get when immersed in creativity is unexplainable joy. When I pick up a needle and thread to hand sew I’m immediately taken back to a slow life feeling of hundreds of years ago without technology, envisioning women sewing and talking, sipping tea, enjoying a step back in time surrounded by fabrics, threads, country life. Let’s do this… I want you to have a healing touch, to feel the joy, to be filled with ideas of your own that bring more joy to you and your loved ones. A healing touch

Immersed in creativity, imagination, dreams, our subconscious mind lets go of all the stressful feelings and our emotions flow freely releasing pent up energy into paint, pencil on paper, charcoal drawings, clay, fabric, sewing, knitting, crochet, designing gardens or interiors for comfort and joy. I love teaching hand painting on t-shirts and cotton fabric! It is a joy for all of us participating in the class. In the past i taught at Ben Franklin Crafts at Queen Kaʻahumanu shopping center to groups of six and it was a perfect afternoon activity.

I love to sew, appliqué Hawaiian designs, piece quilts and make pillows with piping and gorgeous fabrics!
